Classroom Backchannels     

Participants will learn how to create and use online ‘backchannels’ in the classroom to facilitate student discussion, collaboration and reflection.

Classroom Blogging

Learn how to setup, use and moderate content on a classroom blog to improve student writing skills. A moderated classroom blog is the ideal platform to use to share announcements, classroom news, and student work for a public audience.

 

Classroom Learning Portals

Participants will learn how to create a website using wiki software which can serve as a classroom learning portal or “home base” for your students. This site can include links, assignments, resources, and other digital curriculum materials.

 

Classroom Management and Technology

Whether your class has one computer or one computer per student, keeping students on-task, saving student work, and grading computer-based products need to be addressed.  This workshop will focus on how technology changes the classroom environment with ideas and role playing on how to address it.

 

Classroom Radio Shows

This workshop will demonstrate how to help improve student reading, writing, and oral communication skills by creating a classroom radio show!

 

Collaboration Using Google Docs

This workshop explores 21st century collaboration using Google Docs. Participants will see how changes can be made and seen online immediately without the use of e-mail or attachments as well as how this tool can be used in the classroom.  Participants will create lesson plans using Google Docs.

 

Common Core Standards

This workshop develops awareness and understanding of language used in Common Core Standards and helps participants develop steps to implement in their district.

 

Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety

During this workshop, the big picture, available resources and an examination of your school’s strategies to address Internet Safety will be explored. Participants will leave the workshop with a strategic school plan for addressing Internet safety.

 

Information Clutter into Critical Thinking: Internet-based Searching Techniques

During this workshop, participants will learn smart search techniques to narrow the information about a topic and learn how to critique the reliability of the source.  Also, a simple template with questions about the usefulness of the article will be shared.

 

Integration and Application of Accelerated Math

This workshop will help participants develop an understanding of all features in the AM program, develop plans for integrating the use of AM and individualizing instruction to maximize its power and truly accelerate growth in all students’ mathematics achievement levels

 

iPad Media Creation

Participants will learn a variety of applications, strategies and techniques for helping students CREATE media using iPads, iPod Touches or iPhones.

 

Managing the SEAS of JIT Staff Development

Effective professional development opportunities for faculty and staff must address the components of adult learners (SEAS) including the desire for Just in Time immediate opportunities for applying what is taught so it is learned. Participants will work together to design an upcoming training with these principles in mind and get feedback from other participants on the design.

 

Narrated Slideshows

Learn how to create and share a narrated slideshow online including recorded audio synchronized to selected photographs or images.

 

Online Teaching Strategies        

Participants will understand and apply effective interactive teaching strategies in the development of online classes.

 

Personal Learning Networks

Participants will take charge of the own professional development by using social media tools to support their needs and interests.

 

Public Address Announcing (administrators and announcers)

Participants will learn to improve the quality of sporting events with a focus on awareness, appreciation, and implementation of policies and plans that promote quality athletic events.

 

Teaching with Content Management Systems

Whether you are using Moodle, Blackboard, Google sites or another content management system, this workshop will focus on the various tools available to the school.

  

Virtual Learners and Instructional Design

Successful Online Instruction and Communications:  Virtual learning and teaching is not the same as face-to-face.  During this workshop, participants will explore the characteristics of virtual learners, strategies to address these characteristics during online learning modules.

  

Web 2.0 Tools for the Classroom

Each workshop is designed as an introduction to an online participatory tool with time provided to explore the tool(s) and curriculum ideas for classroom use.  Topics can be combined.
